Ida Tarbell
I was born on November 5, 1857 – January 6, 1944) was an American teacher, author and journalist. I was one of the leading "muckrakers" of the progressive era of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Muck is dirt. Muckrakers were journalists who wrote about wrongs: about injustice, unfairness, and corruption.
Why Mr. Rock?
After receiving such encouragement form Sam, I thought it was best go about writing about the business that were illegally yet legally mistreating others like The Standard Oil Company
Contributions
I've also spent four years writing two books that were opinionated. I wanted to show how Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company took unfair advantage of its competitors. I also wanted to show how its uncontrolled power had spread into railroads, mining, and banking, and how that power affected the lives of most Americans. "Mr. Rockefeller has systematically played with loaded dice, and it is doubtful if there has ever been a time since 1872. Business played in this way is fit only for tricksters.
Let's Not Hide The Oily Truth!
All though Mr. Rockefeller is phenomenon, and very successful in many ways but it's still very obvious that this "charity caring", rich and "good" guy is not as trusted as we thought. Mr. Rockefeller allowed his greed was willing to strain every nerve to obtain for himself special and illegal privileges from the railroads which were bound to ruin very man in the oil business not sharing them with him. He has also seem to use all his manipulating ways to cover up for his conniving ways. The Standard Oil Business was destroying competition, it eliminated speculation and kept the prices of oils really high. I Ida Tarbell do say that every body deserves the credit when it's needed, and all praise to Mr. Rockefeller and his success, doing it the legal way would be much more superior.
Mr. Rockefeler's views [John Rockefeller]
"This sweetness that she tries to bring in, referring to these good qualities, and this praise that she brings in as to ability and perseverance and whatever traits which she concedes bring success, is simply covering up her wrath and her jealousy which were all the time present, but which she did not show all the time and which she thought she could bring out all the better by weaving this in as silken thread." In other words Rockefeller believes it is because of jealousy I am against his business. Which shows signs how uncomfortable he is to tell the truth about The Standard Oil Business.
